FAQs

Are you hiring? Where can I apply to be a tutor?

Thank you for your interest, unfortunately Tutoring and Academic Success Support is not a physical office with supporting staff - this is a website compiling all the resources available around campus and elsewhere. If you are interested in being a tutor, please contact departments and offices directly to see if they have any open tutoring positions. A listing of UMD offices and departments can be found here.

A Non-University Affiliated Option: Note that UMD does not endorse this external link. It is listed here as a resource for your consideration.

  • PeerTutors.com** is an online tutoring platform for students to connect with volunteers, private peer tutors, and mentors at the University of Maryland. PeerTutors.com, formerly, WiseGuy.com, was founded by a group of University of Maryland alumni who wished to create a more collaborative and interactive learning environment for college students. *Free and pay-for-service options

I can’t seem to find any tutoring services for my class, where can I find support?

Unfortunately not all courses at UMD will have tutoring services to support them. If you are unable to find tutoring services for a specific course, we recommend the following options:

  • Ask your professor if they are aware of any additional resources that might be able to help (tips on talking to faculty during office hours)
  • Contact the department directly to see if there are any student organizations or Graduate students who might be able to help. For example, if you are looking for help in an ECON class, that would be the Department of Economics.
